On November 17, the Beijing hub of SCOLAR Network successfully hosted a\u00a0TEDTalks\u00a0<\/strong>Simulation event in a warm and inviting atmosphere at FUNYOUNG Bar. The event brought together around 50 participants from various countries and cultures to discuss pressing global issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Relevant Topics:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Four invited speakers shared their unique perspectives and experiences on a wide range of topics, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 sustainable development and climate change;<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 the role of youth organizations in advancing the climate agenda;<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 personal experiences of living in Shaolin and their influence on the development of AI applications;<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 decolonization and rethinking education;<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 the art of active listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Each lecture sparked lively interest among the audience and served as a springboard for further discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Event Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The event was divided into three main parts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n SCOLAR Network Presentation. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Elizabeth Nelyubina, curator of the Beijing hub, introduced the participants to SCOLAR’s mission, its activities, and initiatives aimed at fostering intercultural dialogue and empowering youth potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Speaker Lectures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 Alexey Karpov<\/strong> shared how his decade-long experience of practicing Shaolin kung fu helped him uncover unique challenges in developing the AI-based Chinese language learning app LAOSHI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 Larissa Kennedy<\/strong> delivered a talk titled “Education as a Practice of Freedom,” emphasizing the importance of decolonizing educational systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 Ilyas Laroussi<\/strong>, founder of an ecological center in Beijing, presented real-life examples of sustainable development in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022\u00a0Kadim Al-Obaidi<\/strong>\u00a0inspired attendees with his reflections on the “Lost Arts of Listening” and the significance of this skill in modern society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Discussion on Public Speaking.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The final segment of the event focused on the art of public speaking.
