The main goal of the Model SCO is to encourage the interest of young people in the activities of the Organization within the format of modeling political discussions at the highest level summits of the SCO member countries. The current Model of the SCO reproduced the activities of one of the main mechanisms of the Organization – the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member states. The event contributed to a better understanding of the functioning and work of the Organization among young people. It was attended by delegates from 9 countries of the SCO region, who represented member states and the SCO Secretariat.

The Model SCO delegates made presentations with proposals on international, regional functioning about environmental threats and challenges, and discussed prospects and measures to strengthen comprehensive cooperation in the field of ecology in the interests of further inclusive global growth of the region. They discussed the final document – the Declaration – with the proposed initiatives from the delegations. The participants of the event also noted the specific and practical nature of the proposals of the President of Uzbekistan, voiced during the historic September summit in Samarkand, to address the above problems. In this work, they were assisted by highly qualified specialists from leading educational institutions and experts from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. Representatives of the External Relations Committee of the UWED Student Council and SCO Centre observed the preparation and holding of the interactive game Model SCO as consultants.

First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of UWED D.Amanov reminded the young leaders: “The prosperity of the region, the future of friendship and cooperation of the SCO member states will largely depend on the willingness of the “Generation SCO” to take responsibility for practical decisions related to strengthening partnership within the framework of organizations”.

Director of the SCO Public Diplomacy Center in Uzbekistan Kabuljon Sabirov recalled that over the past years the SCO has become an important subject of world politics and has taken its rightful place among influential international structures. The regional partnership based on the “Shanghai spirit” principles has been significantly strengthened. The interactive game Model SCO demonstrated the growing interest of young people of the republic in the activities of the Organization aimed at strengthening mutual trust, friendship and good neighborliness between the peoples of our countries. The National Coordinator of Uzbekistan in the SCO Rakhmatilla Nurimbetov spoke about how important it is to take care of the “Shanghai spirit”, good-neighborly, friendly relations that have developed in the “SCO family”.

The welcoming speech at the event was delivered by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan Manish Prabhat, who noted that the solution of regional environmental problems can be achieved only with deepening cooperation in the field of environmental protection and combining coordinated efforts to introduce innovative solutions.

During the lively exchange of views within the framework of the meeting, several noteworthy initiatives were voiced, which were submitted to the Council of National Coordinators of the SCO countries for study. The main thing is to participate in an interactive game, the participants prepare themselves for practical activities, learn how to manage the state and the ability to combine national interests with the prospects of the vast SCO region.

At the end of the conference, the participants of the event were awarded valuable prizes and certificates, and the winners in the nominations “Best Position Paper”, “Best Delegate”, “Best Performance” and “Best Activist” were awarded with the gifts from the SCO Public Diplomacy Center Uzbekistan.
