Model SCO-2024 held in Moscow

On May 23-24, the Moscow Model SCO-2024 was held at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The Conference was organized by the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Moscow State University, the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, and SCOLAR Network Moscow hub.

The purpose of the Moscow Model SCO-2024 was to expand students’ knowledge about the economic and cultural agenda of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Moscow Model SCO-2024 served as a platform for students to practice intercultural and official business communication not only in Russian, but also in Chinese, because it was the first Model SCO with Chinese as a working language.

The opening ceremony of the Moscow Model SCO-2024 was attended by distinguished guests, including the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for SCO Affairs B.M. Khakimov, Executive Secretary of the SCO Business Council S.V. Kanavskiy, Deputy Director of the Department of Asia, Africa and Latin America A.V. Meshkov, Professor of the Diplomatic Academy V.Y. Zakharov, as well as representatives of the embassies of the SCO member states – India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, and Pakistan.

In the second part of the event, the delegates of the Moscow Model SCO-2024 were split into two committees.

At the closing ceremony of the Model, the committees presented the final decisions on the proposed agenda. The professional jury comprised of the representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the SCO Business Council, and the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
