World Youth Festival, March 4
On March 4, the World Youth Festival in Sochi, Russia, hosted the conference “Agora: Intercultural Dialogue of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.” The conference was organized by the SCO Youth Council and SCOLAR Network.
SCOLAR hubs’ members from China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and conference participants came up with initiatives in the fields of youth entrepreneurship, ecology, water resources protection, and culture.
Opening ceremony of the SCOLAR hub in Yekaterinburg, April 22
On April 22, the opening ceremony of the SCOLAR Network hub at the Ural State Pedagogical University took place in Yekaterinburg.
At the ceremony, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Rector of the University, Svetlana Minyurova and the Co-Founder of SCOLAR Network, Victoria Khu. Sergey Kanavsky, Executive Secretary of the SCO Business Council, delivered a welcoming speech. The hub became the 4th SCOLAR hub in Russia and the 15th in the SCO region.
XII Youth Educational Conference “Model SCO,” April 26
On April 26, Astana hosted the XII Youth Educational Conference “Model SCO,” organized by Astana International University and SCOLAR Network.
The conference was devoted to the topic “Building a Green Future in the SCO Region: Strategies and Solutions.” In accordance with the New Delhi Declaration, 2024 was recognized as the “Year of Ecology” in the SCO. Participants in the conference were able to highlight pressing environmental issues relevant to all countries in the region, offering fresh ideas and solutions.
Conference on the Theory and Practice of Teaching Chinese, April 16
On April 19, a scientific conference was held at the Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics, which coincided with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China.
Curator Gleb Potapov and Vice Curator of SCOLAR Saint-Petersburg hub Gromchakova Victoria, introduced to the audience some activities of the SCOLAR Network and St. Petersburg hub and shared upcoming projects and plans for the future.
Regional Debates, March 28
On March 28, the team of SCOLAR Saint-Petersburg hub, with the support of the Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics, conducted the Regional Debates for students of UNECON. The event was held as part of the Eurasian Week at Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics.
The main topic of the debate was “Artificial intelligence in the SCO space in the education area.”
Model SCO Youth Conference, May 23-24
The Institute of Asian and African Studies at Moscow State University, the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and SCOLAR Moscow hub will host the Model SCO conference in May 2024.
The topic of the conference will be devoted to youth entrepreneurship in the SCO region.The conference will be held in-person in Russian.
A Master Class on Career Development in China, April 10
On April 10, University of Linguistics of Nizhny Novgorod in Russia hosted a meeting with the head of the HR agency “China Professionals”, and a member of the Association for Career Counseling and Support Aliya Arsayeva. The event was attended by the team of the SCOLAR Nizhny Novgorod hub.
liya Arsayeva held a session on “Turn to the East: How to Monetize Knowledge about China,” where speaker talked about the niches for career development in China for graduates of a linguistic university and shared the techniques for the basics of career management.
Visit of Chinese students, February
In February, Chinese students who came to Linguistics University of Nizhny Novgorod under the academic mobility program visited the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum, one of the oldest regional museums in Russia.
Accompanied by Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Higher School of International Relations and World Politics Jing Jinghua, as well as Сurator of the SCOLAR Nizhny Novgorod hub Alina Garaeva and Vice-Сurator Alexey Moiseenko, a delegation of Chinese students got acquainted with the collection of Russian art, which has been located in the Governor’s House in the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin for several decades.
Model SCO 2024 Anhui University, May 22
On May 22, the Model SCO Conference 2024 will be hosted at Anhui University in Hefei. The conference is organized by Anhui University and SCOLAR Network, with the topic “Generation SCO: Building Bridges through Cultural Exchange and Shared Vision.”
Model SCO Youth Conference, May 6
The Model SCO Youth Conference, organized by the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, MGIMO-Tashkent and the SCOLAR Tashkent hub, was successfully held in Uzbekistan on May 6.
The conference, held with the aim of stimulating the interest of young people in the activities of the organization and the practice of reaching consensus on solving global problems through equal dialogue and consultations, was able to bring together more than 100 young people in the region.The young people touched upon the issues of ecology, entrepreneurship, and tourism in the SCO space.
Conference of Diplomacy, Business and Youth, April 19
The online conference “Diplomacy, Business, and Youth” was hosted by the Assembly of the Economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan and SCOLAR Tashkent hub on April 19.
Important topics in business and diplomacy, together with the role of youth in their development, were covered throughout the conference. Along with exchanging thoughts and experiences with professionals and practitioners, participants learnt about the most recent developments and opportunities in these fields.
